We've all been there... the rain of life falls on us all. The key is... what do you do with the pain. Do you get bitter and hard and mad at God and the world Or does it break your heart and make you a better and more loving person. On such decisions and choices, lives are made or broken. Greatness is achieved or lost... goodness is gained or forsaken. How we handle it makes all the difference in the world.
If we turn towards the Lord in our brokenness... He will not forsake us. He will come in and pick us up and carry us through to the light of a new and better day. On to a brighter future than we could ever imagine. As the old missionary William Carey said...
"The Future Is As Bright
As The Promises Of God!"
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along
the beach with the Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed
two sets of footprints in the sand,
one beloning to him and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the
very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life there is
only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most
you would leave me."
The Lord replied "My precious, precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffereing,
when you see only one set of footprints in the sand,
it was then that I carried you."
The Words Of Encouragement Page was 1st published in response to a friend who was diagnosed with cancer! He shared the Longfellow poem (The Rainy Day) and the page was our response. That friend is now cancer free and doing great! He hung on to the Lord and his test has now become a testimony to all! May God help us all to be so faithful in our time of trial... And may God help us to share Words of Encouragement with those in need!
